Privacy at Bidari

Last updated: 1 July 2026

Bidari is built on a simple promise: your nights are yours. We don't run ads, we don't track you, we don't build a profile of you, and we never sell your data. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to what you write, what stays on your phone, and what only leaves it if you ask it to.

What stays on your device

By default, everything you set down in Bidari, your night notes, your journal entries, your wake preference, and your quiet record of mornings begun, is stored locally on your phone. If you never create an account, it stays there and nowhere else. If you delete the app, that data is gone with it.

Accounts and syncing

Creating an account is optional. If you choose to sign in, your nights, journal entries, and preferences are saved to a secure database we run through Supabase, hosted on servers in the European Union, so they can follow you to a new phone and survive reinstalling the app. Each account's data is walled off: only you, signed in, can read your own. If you never sign in, none of this happens and your data never leaves your phone.

You can sign in with an email and password, or with Google or Apple. When you use Google or Apple, they pass along basic profile details, your name and email address, so we can set up your account. We store your email, and your name if it is provided, and nothing else about you. We do not post anything, read your contacts, or look at anything else in those accounts.

How your morning is made

To turn last night's notes into a calm, ordered morning, Bidari sends the thoughts you wrote to a small server we run, which passes them to Anthropic, our text-processing provider, to shape your morning. This happens over an encrypted connection. The notes are used only to create that one morning. They are not stored on our server and are not used to train anyone's models.

If you speak your thoughts instead of typing them, the recording is sent the same way to OpenAI to turn your words into text, and then it is handled exactly like typed notes. The audio is not kept once it has been transcribed.

If you are offline or processing is unavailable, Bidari quietly arranges a simpler morning on the device itself, and nothing leaves your phone at all.

Keeping it safe

Everything that travels between your phone and our providers moves over an encrypted connection. Account data is protected so that each person can only reach their own rows, and access to the database is limited. No system is perfect, but we collect little and guard what we hold.

Payments

If you start a free trial or subscribe, the purchase is handled by Apple's App Store and by RevenueCat, which manages subscriptions for us. They receive the information needed to process and validate your subscription, tied to an identifier rather than to your name or your notes. Bidari never sees or stores your card details.

Notifications

If you set a wake time, or tag something for the morning or afternoon, Bidari schedules a gentle local notification on your device. It is created and delivered entirely on your phone. No information is sent anywhere to make it happen.

What we do not do

Your choices and your rights

You are in control of your data. Anything on your device you can clear at any time by starting fresh or by deleting the app. If you have an account, you can ask us to send you a copy of everything in it, or to delete your account and all of its contents, and we will do it. Just write to us.

If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom (GDPR), in California (CCPA), or another region with data-protection laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to object to certain uses. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address below and we will honour it. Bidari is the party responsible for your data and can be reached at bidariapp@gmail.com.

Keeping your data, and letting it go

Account data is kept for as long as your account exists, so your nights are there when you come back. When you delete your account, it is removed. On-device data lasts until you clear it or remove the app.

Children

Bidari is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If we ever change how this works, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Bidari's direction is to collect less over time, never more.

This policy is written to be honest and readable rather than legalistic. Before launch it should be reviewed for accuracy, and, given an EU base and a global audience, checked against GDPR and CCPA specifics, including how the responsible party is formally named. It is a strong starting point, not formal legal advice.
